BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN RESORTS As of 1:00 p.m. on Thursday October 30th, it is looking as though the Big Bear Valley including Snow Summit and Bear Mountain will NOT be affected by fire. Emergency and fire crews have done an amazing job preventing the fires from reaching Big Bear. A change in weather has helped and the latest forecast is even suggesting the possibility of light snow by Friday night. Over the course of the summer, we have taken several steps to insure the safety of Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. These steps include clearing trees from all facilities and lifts and positioning an intricate sprinkler system around the ridgelines of both resorts should fire approach. As you know, the resorts have two of the largest snowmaking systems in the world that are capable of bringing vast quantities of water to all areas of the resort should fire actually reach them (which is unlikely at this point). Please keep updated with the latest info on your local news stations. We will be onsite at the Fresh Tracks show in Long Beach this weekend. Please stop by to say Hi, and check out all the latest goods from Big Bear Mountain Resorts. We absolutely plan to open as usual sometime in mid to late November and look forward to a great 03-04 season. * * * * * * * * * * i'm so there!! who's with me??
